STOCKTON TRIATHLON READY! We’re now shouting it loud and proud; for this our second triathlon at Stockton because, having already organised a highly successful event at Stockton in August 2008, we can confirm that we have already set an unbeatable new quality standard for the sport. We have listened and taken in all the fabulous feedback from the fantastic entrants of the event in August. The first male open competitor across the line was Mike Cornes in a time of 01:45:20, yes the cycle was short but this was still a great performance, with Georgie Rutherford coming in, in 02:04:50. We now regroup and prepare for what is going to be ‘The Triathlon Of The North’ While we may be new to the three discipline event, we are no strangers to major sporting promotions. Our company’s Operations Manager, Sammy Chung, is a former Royal Marine Warrant Officer, Physical Training Instructor and Sports Coach who, for 16 years, had specific responsibility for staging the force’s top quality sporting events, both in the UK and on overseas tours of duty. An endurance athlete himself, Sammy has competed in the double marathon coastal challenge from Exmouth to Pool and twice completed the Classic Canoe Marathon; a non-stop paddle of 125 miles between Devises and Westminster! Our Managing Director and Event Promoter, Marcus Di-Vincenzo, is also a former Marine P.T.I. and Special Forces Colour Sergeant who has swum for England, ridden the Etape du Tour and run the New York Marathon, so knows all about the demands faced by tri-athletes. Completing the organising team is our Technical Consultant, Steve Hockings-Thompson, a highly successful international tri-athlete who has seen it all in over a dozen years of top class competition. Having represented GB in the Long Course Worlds, in France, completed 4 Lanzarote Ironman events, challenged for a world title at Clearwater in the USA, been in the Royal Marines Tri Team and lifted a regional UK crown, Steve has a complete understanding of what competitors expect and deserve from triathlon providers. Collectively, we are MIG Events Management and, as our individual profiles suggest, we are now bringing much needed military precision to the sport. To experience just how fantastic our events are enter The Stockton Triathlon now and be part of the new wave which first hit Warwick in May and rolls on through Stockton and Liverpool next year. Also, look out for our other 2008 triathlon promotions at Warwick (28th Sept.) and, if you’d like to find out how, as a tri-athlete, you measure up to those who specialise in endurance cycling, why not have a go at the Exmoor Beast cyclo-sportive rides on 2nd Nov.
